And David, I always found that the transitions coming and going from Belchertown were the hardest for me and for everyone else, too. When you leave do you hear Harry Chapin singing. . . ? But seriously, does all this work mean you can turn down jobs later? Too bad Boston isn't a smidge closer, otherwise we could easily visit. don't konw if you work crazy hours when you're on the road, like the old days.
Yesterday, Kerry told me that she was reading "Organic Style" and saw a quote by none other than Anne Sailer! Way to go!
Not much going on in Belchertown other than rain, rain, rain. There is some risk of actually losing children in the high grass so the lawn obviously loves the moisture.

Henry's 9 month checkup today -- he's doing great.
Madre here - just read thru the postings. Interesting. Styles different yet much the same.
We are still waiting for the sun - it has been 5 days so far and the forecast is for three more days before the world dries out. And it has been cold too!
Jake has certain things he looks forward to when he comes to my house (only with Daddy! a juice box, much hand washing in the bathroom (mostly unsupervised), checking out Robbie's big bag of ninja creatures, checking out the basement once, more ttime down there is Dad comes too (it is safer!).
All at this point - want to see if this gets posted.
It seems closer to the stuff you enjoyed before - kind of governmentally (even though it's an NGO). How nice to have an offer!

I like them very much and am very enthusiastic, but I am in the process of talking to 2-3 other organizations, and who knows, they might bowl me over. So I'm just going to see if I can have a little time to decide... They may not give me that time, but I'm going to see.

Hey! Randy here. I was home sick today (general yucky feelings). Rebecca got her braces off today (yahoo!). Went to Meg's orchestra and choral conference today. It was very good.

dave, if you look down the list, you'll see that at one point ccs says "A good example of stuff I was missing," and talks about Pat's move. I then made a joke that I didn't know that molly was around. Then ccs made the joke that she didn't know that I was married.
Such is the hilarity that can ensue when one starts a blog.

re: children sleeping
Sophie now fairly consistently calls from her room at 5:00am - "I want to (s)nuggle you!" Thankfully, once in bed with us, she does go back to sleep. Another part of our routine is the 4:00am cat fight (complete with hissing, growling and scrambling) in our bedroom or just outside the door - very conducive to a good night's sleep.
Post, I think, is if it's in process - kind of like a draft.

Henry has started to crawl, and pull himself up, and sit up by himself, and have a tooth break through... He's very busy! He's also a little fussier than previously -- seems to get frustrated more quickly and more often. I solve this by leaving the house as much as possible and letting Cass deal with him.
He is considered by those in his swim class to be of Olympic caliber, based on his energetic splashing and kicking. Unfortunately, he has taken this practice to his bath, so we're just about to move him from the small, portable bath to the bath tub. I have learned another lesson as a parent, which is why parents for generations have been vigilant about cleaning behind the ears. I had a laissez-faire attitude toward this for many months and only recently discovered the folly of my ways. We are slowly but surely reclaiming this territory from the invading army of dead skin cells and collected dirt.
Another good example of the things *I've* been missing! I didn't know Anne and David had a daughter. "Molly," what a good name!

My mom (Pat) is retiring from public education as of the end of June. She'll shift to doing per diem social work assessments and psychological testing/evaluations for county agencies, teaching as an adjunct in the Fordham social work master's program, and (finally) start painting again. It's an exciting time!

A good example of stuff I was missing. I had no idea that Pat was even moving to Montclair! Does that mean she will be retiring?

As it turns out, I can access from work - excellent, since this is where I'm on the computer the most. In terms of publishing, I think you need to do it, but this is pretty new to me.
The real CCS
This is Anne...What a fab idea! (Though to the untrained eye it looks as though Carolyn is very, very lonely.
David relayed almost all the exciting news from our end, but I'll throw in a few more tidbits. David's work is going gangbusters right now (Yay! and Boo! at the same time). He's working a ton and is hoping that the summer will be more relaxing than the spring has been. Molly's a little spitfire, giving her strong-willed brother an incredible run for his money. Man, she's is in his face more than I'd ever have thought, given how much more mellow a baby she was than Jakells. He seems nonplussed at times by her behavior but rarely acts aggressively (thank goodness).
Molly's about to start standing on her own - she's up to about 30 seconds at a time, once or twice a day. Her first word is officially, "Bye bye," though she pronounces it "Die die." We'll work on her diction. She's been saying that and waving for about three weeks. Other Molly tricks: she kisses me when I say, "Can I have a kiss?"; she shakes her head, "No" to just about every question (oh, great); and she loves to be chased, starting off on a fast crawl looking over her shoulder to make sure we're on her tail.
what is the publish part? We don't ever really need to do that, right?
So, if Carolyn has a hard time checking this out from work, it really is a selfless gesture to set this up. But seems to work well so far! I think some may know the news, but not all - Anne's mom found a place in Montclair and has found a buyer of her old place. Closing date will likely be around the end of July. Let's hear it for more free babysitting.
Anne's Dad and his wife visited over the weekend - we had a fine time and put them to work doing lots of projects - fixed a light, a ceiling fan, built a table, had a big trip to Home Depot and put in a raised vegtable bed, for some square foot gardening. They have been traveling across country in their RV, a relatively small one, but great for trips of a few weeks (as long as no kids).
Anne and I are taking on the issue of Molly sleeping through the night this week - the plan is for Anne to go in only once for nursing, and only after 2:00 am. Other than that it's up to me. Last night worked out very well - Molly woke once at 1:15 and then not again until 5:15 for good :( . I am sure it won't be that easy tonight.....

Well, now I've sent the email to y'all so let's see those blogs roll in. Here's my first bit of news:
Gabe's last soccer game was Monday and there was a parents vs. kids game. I was in work clothes, so that was my way of getting out of it. Penny, however, donned sneaks and shorts and jumped in. She really got into it and enjoyed herself - especially compared to many of the children who were often even facing the wrong way. The coach played on the kids' team and when they both went after the ball, Penny ended up hurting her foot and limping off the field. It's swollen and black and blue. She is hobbling. We went for x-rays last night, she should have the results today. BTW, Sophie and I were watching and yelling things like "Get back on defense!" and "Pick on someone your own size!" and the like. Okay, so Sophie was just echoing me. . .
